1) Use a Ruler or a Tape Measure
2) Make sure you DO NOT INCLUDE your Thumb and your Fingers in this measurement
3) ONLY measure the WIDTH of the four tops of your knuckles where your fingers attach to your hand (from your Index Pointer Finger Knuckle all the way across to your Pinky Knuckle)
4) If your hand measures 4 Inches or UNDER in width then the 599 FOX Karambit Black G10 Knife is going to be the BETTER FIT for your hand.
5) Again, If you hand is 4 Inches or UNDER in width, we STRONGLY suggest that you DO NOT order the 479 or 479TK Karambit Knives as they will NOT fit your hand properly, as they are meant for XXL Size Hands and any returns will cause a 15% restocking fee we don't want you to incur.

  1. My new favorite knives

Posted by Reiner on 29th Jul 2014

I purchased the 599 Knife/Trainer Combo and I love them. I don't play around too much with the real knife, but I do carry it everyday. A lot of time I wear a t-shirt with jeans so the ring shows visibly; I just don't clip it onto my pocket if I'm going into a store or something though, so it isn't too noticeable. Then when I leave I just clip it back on.

I recommend sanding down the pocket side like Lad's video shows, it's somewhere on youtube. It makes the world of difference when deploying the blade. I also needed to oil it up a bit to make it as smooth as I wanted.
Over all the fit and finish is similar to the Cold Steel AK-47 knife which used to be my daily carry before I made this purchase.

I'd recommend it for someone who want's a folding karambit, I mean, that's obvious, but if you want an EDC knife, like to cut boxes and open mail with, I wouldn't use this. For me it's for self defense, and like a gun, I wouldn't tool around with it, which is what make the trainer perfect, because it's exactly like the real blade and I mess around with that all day.

With that, the trainer has held up to a lot of heavy using and abusing, so if the time comes, I'm sure the real blade will function just as smoothly.

If you have the money, get it, you wont be disappointed.

  2. One of the must pratical knife I wear everyday

Posted by Gilles on 27th Jul 2014

Amazing the way it could help. A simple stealth weapon you must have for self defense.

  3. awesome knife

Posted by John on 11th Jul 2014

This knife is vary high quality as well as the trainer. I recommend getting them both. Can't wait till they come out with straight ones. I will buy both of them as well.

  4. nice quality

I am not a martial artist or a knife fighter. I purchased this because in California you cannot have a fixed blade knife concealed. The quick draw deployment of the Emerson wave takes care of this. It comes to hand very naturally and will supplement instinctive self defense moves like punching and grappeling. To me basically a great stealth weapon replacing a box cutter, to be used as a surprise on an assailant.

  5. Awesome knife

Posted by Wayne on 19th Jun 2014

The 599 Fox Karambit is one of the best knifes I have purchased. It fits in my hand perfectly. It's Extremely fast on the draw from my pocket. The wave feature from Emerson is fantastic on the 599. If you look on the 479 the wave is more rounded and it really opens only when you draw from the pocket.

Now with the 599 has more a point to it you can open the the knife at anytime from your pocket or part of your clothing while in transition of using the knife as impact weapon or cutting with it. So it's a fantastic knife everyone should have one. Just now need the the Fox Dart to come out and life will be AWESOME.

    Thanks, Wayne

  6. Great knife!

Posted by William B on 25th May 2014

I found The 599 Fox karambit to be an excellent knife. The G10 scales are very aggressive and grippy. The blade was not as sharp as I expected, but a few strokes on a spyderco triangle sharpmaker got it plenty sharp. Overall, for the money, this is a great knife! I was torn between the Fox karambit, and the Emerson combat karambit. For the price of an Emerson, I got a fighting knife and a practice knife. I was not disappointed! Looking forward to the "Fox Dart", which I hope makes it to market!

  7. Never leave home without it.

Posted by Chris on 28th Apr 2014

I ordered this knife and the trainer so that I could learn something new and also have something in my pocket that I felt confident with and trusted. It has excelled on both points and the ease of use and the solid feel make it a part of my wardrobe every day.

I prefer to carry the trainer for personal reasons, but I make my wife carry the actual blade and it gives me piece of mind knowing she has a quick, solid knife for self defense.

  8. Deterrent

Posted by Unknown on 19th Apr 2014

Excellent blade. Luckily, I haven't had to use it yet. Unfortunately, my occupation required something like this knife. It's worked beautifully as a deterrent. I've had a few instances where I've had to show it. Which immediately changes a person's attitude and whatever they happened to be thinking at the time.

  9. Good product and service.

Posted by Dave on 14th Apr 2014

When I got the Karambit I decided to sand under the pocket clip as shown on the video, but I messed up and tightned the screws too tight and stripped them. After contacting Lad, he said send it back and he would fix the problem, which he did. This was most generous since it was my mistake; that shows great customer service. As for the karambit, it appears to be very high quality, and performs just like you see in the videos. Glad I bought it. I also got the trainer, which Lad fixed as well. Highly recommended.

  10. Fox Knives Karambit

Posted by Unknown on 9th Apr 2014

This knife is awesome, fun to train with. Very smooth draw and comfortable feel in your hands in either forward or reverse grip. The trainer is definitely worth the extra money, without it I would of definitely cut my hands up when I first received the knife.
